Our story…

We are reclaiming stories, artifacts, images, and art that celebrate our culture, our creative spirit, and the vibrant communities we come from.

While being inclusive of everyone we are intentional about celebrating and honoring stories that showcase Black live and culture, and the many forms that takes: how we dress, how we decorate our homes, the food we prepare, the magic we make.

Whether on the page, in fabric, or through other creative means, we are here to lift up these visual, written, and lived stories.

Lillian & Ruby—founded by their granddaughter, a writer, artist, and entrepreneur—is a sacred space. A place where stories come together, are lifted high, and offered as light for the path.

We are happy you are here.

Join us at Lillian & Ruby in remembering, repurposing, reshaping the way we live, honoring our present, path, and future.

As a child I found the most comfort and joy in creating. Little did I know then that I would become a writer and creative “IRL.” When I look back, I see that so much of my influence comes from my mother and my maternal and paternal grandmothers. They were homemakers even though they also worked outside of the house. They were dynamic women in the community. Their nurturing, creative, faithful, loving spirit gave life to so much. The way they used their hands to cook, sew, make art, play the piano, touch a bruise can still be felt. They passed much of that down to me and what I do through Lillian & Ruby is my way of saying thank you!
